Microsoft appears to be developing a Windows 11 widget that would show the remaining battery power of a computer and its connected wireless accessories. References and graphical resources discovered inside preliminary system builds suggest that the feature could eventually appear in both the Widgets panel and the lock screen.
The proposed interface presents a vertical list beginning with the computer itself, followed by compatible headphones, keyboards, mice, game controllers and other devices. Each entry would display an icon, device name and remaining battery percentage, together with indicators showing whether it is charging or operating in energy-saving mode.
Such a widget would address a persistent usability problem. Windows can already report the battery level of many Bluetooth accessories, but that information is distributed across different menus or companion applications. Centralizing it would allow users to identify devices requiring attention without interrupting their work or opening several configuration screens.
The possible lock-screen integration could be particularly useful for laptop users, enabling them to review available power before signing in. Microsoft has gradually expanded the practical information shown on this surface and has also redesigned Windows battery indicators with colors representing charging, energy-saving and critically low states.
The feature remains experimental. Microsoft has not officially announced it, included it in public Windows Insider release notes or provided a launch date. Even preview-program participants cannot currently activate it through conventional settings. Hardware requirements and the list of supported accessories are also unknown.
There is no indication that the widget would require artificial intelligence, a neural processing unit or a Copilot+ computer. As with other components discovered during development, Microsoft could redesign, postpone or abandon it before public release. For now, it represents a useful possibility rather than an available Windows 11 function.
The most valuable technology often makes ordinary information easier to reach.
