The operation disrupted an alleged synthetic-drug production site and caused a multimillion-peso loss to organized crime, according to authorities.

CULIACÁN, Mexico — August 14, 2026. Mexican Army personnel located and dismantled a clandestine laboratory allegedly used to manufacture synthetic drugs in the state of Sinaloa.

The facility was discovered during ground patrol and reconnaissance operations conducted in an area associated with the storage and processing of chemical substances.

At the site, soldiers found chemical precursors and specialized equipment commonly used in illegal drug production, including industrial containers and processing devices.

The materials were secured and the facility was disabled to prevent criminal groups from resuming operations there.

Mexican security authorities described the seizure as a multimillion-peso blow to organized crime, based on the estimated value of the substances, equipment and production capacity eliminated.

Officials did not immediately identify the criminal organization allegedly responsible for operating the laboratory. No arrests connected to the discovery were initially reported.

The seized materials were placed under the authority of federal prosecutors, who will oversee laboratory testing and continue the investigation.

Sinaloa remains a strategic center for the production and trafficking of synthetic drugs, making clandestine laboratories a recurring target of military and federal operations.

Authorities said surveillance and reconnaissance efforts will continue as part of the national strategy to weaken the logistical and financial structures of organized crime.

The truth is not imposed: it is demonstrated.
