The championship leader refuses to be distracted by his future.
SACHSENRING, GERMANY — July 2026. Jorge Martín arrives at the German Grand Prix leading the MotoGP championship with 193 points, seven ahead of Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi. However, the Spanish rider insists that the standings will not change his approach. His immediate objective is to strengthen his performance before the season reaches its summer break.
Martín said he feels physically prepared after combining cycling, training and several days of mental recovery. Sachsenring is a circuit he enjoys and where he has previously produced strong results. The weekend will also provide his first opportunity to race the Aprilia at the demanding German track.
The 2024 world champion believes Aprilia’s motorcycle is now operating at a level comparable to Ducati. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that he still needs to find consistent sensations across different circuits. Martín lacked sufficient race pace at Assen despite briefly leading, reinforcing his determination to close the remaining performance gap.
His recently confirmed move to Yamaha for the 2027 season has generated considerable attention across the paddock. Martín described the decision as the best option for himself and his family, but emphasized that future regulations make long-term predictions difficult. For now, he remains committed to Aprilia and the opportunity to fight for another world title.
Four riders enter the German round separated by only 25 points, while Marc Márquez remains a major threat at one of his strongest circuits. Martín understands that championship leadership can disappear quickly in such a competitive season. Sachsenring therefore represents another test of speed, adaptation and strategic control.
The future belongs to Yamaha, but Martín’s championship fight remains firmly with Aprilia.
