Carlos Alcaraz Missing From Canadian Masters Entry List

by Phoenix 24

His return remains uncertain after months sidelined by injury.

MONTREAL, CANADA — July 2026. Carlos Alcaraz does not appear on the entry list for the Canadian Open, the ATP Masters 1000 tournament scheduled in Montreal from August 2 to 13. Organizers announced that 71 of the world’s top 72 eligible players are expected to compete. The Spanish star is the notable exception.

Alcaraz has been sidelined since suffering a right-wrist injury during the Barcelona Open in April. The problem forced him to withdraw from Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros, while his recovery also kept him away from the grass-court season. He has recently resumed light practice but has not yet returned to full-intensity training.

Although his absence from the list does not constitute a definitive withdrawal, participation now appears unlikely. A wildcard could still provide late entry, but his team is prioritizing a complete recovery rather than accelerating his return. The 23-year-old’s condition will continue to be evaluated over the coming weeks.

The most probable comeback is now the Cincinnati Masters, scheduled from August 13 to 23. Alcaraz would arrive as defending champion before turning his attention to the US Open. Missing Montreal would further reduce his competitive preparation for the final Grand Slam of the season.

His prolonged absence is also placing pressure on his position in the ATP rankings. Alexander Zverev is closing in on the world number two spot, while Jannik Sinner maintains a significant advantage at the top.

Alcaraz is approaching his return—but the calendar will not dictate his recovery.
