Ferrari Unveils Schumacher Tribute Livery for Monza

by Phoenix 24

The Scuderia will transform its 2026 car to honour the driver who redefined its modern history.

MONZA, ITALY

Ferrari has revealed a special one-off livery for the Italian Grand Prix commemorating Michael Schumacher’s extraordinary association with the team. The tribute marks 30 years since the German driver joined Ferrari and 20 years since his final victory for the Scuderia, achieved at the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix.

The SF-26 driven by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will carry visual references to the Ferrari F310 that Schumacher raced during his first season in Maranello. The design retains Ferrari’s traditional red while introducing black elements and historical details associated with the 1996 car. Schumacher’s personal logo appears near the cockpit, while seven stars on the nose represent his seven Formula One world championships.

Leclerc and Hamilton will also wear bespoke racing suits featuring the same seven-star motif and Schumacher’s initials. The tribute therefore extends beyond the car’s paintwork to the drivers’ equipment and wider team presentation. Ferrari describes the celebration as recognition of Schumacher’s competitive mentality, pursuit of perfection and enduring influence on its internal culture.

Schumacher joined Ferrari after winning two consecutive championships with Benetton. He subsequently led a profound sporting transformation that produced five consecutive drivers’ titles between 2000 and 2004. His 72 victories for Ferrari remain the most achieved by any driver with the Italian team, while his five Monza triumphs in red made him one of the most celebrated figures among the tifosi.

Ferrari also plans to display several cars associated with Schumacher’s career, including the F310, F2002 and 248 F1. Former Ferrari drivers Rubens Barrichello and Sebastian Vettel are expected to participate in demonstration runs during the weekend. The historical spectacle will accompany a competitive objective, as Ferrari seeks another home victory while pursuing Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship.

The tribute connects three generations of Ferrari history: Schumacher’s championship era, Vettel’s later pursuit of the same success and Hamilton and Leclerc’s present attempt to return the team to the top. Its significance ultimately extends beyond nostalgia. Schumacher’s greatest legacy in Maranello was not simply the colour of his car, but the disciplined organisation he helped build around it.
