Thousands of hectares burned as villages remain evacuated.

A wildfire in Zaragoza’s Cinco Villas region has burned more than 12,000 hectares, becoming Spain’s largest fire of the year. The blaze, which began near Orés on July 15, remains uncontrolled after expanding rapidly during the night.
Authorities evacuated Orés, Asín, Luesia, Malpica de Arba and Uncastillo, along with Petilla de Aragón in neighboring Navarra. More than 1,100 people have been affected, while several roads remain closed as emergency teams protect homes and rural communities.
The fire has developed a perimeter of approximately 60 kilometers. More than 450 personnel, supported by the Military Emergency Unit and an extensive aerial operation, are working to contain the flames under difficult conditions.
High temperatures, low humidity and shifting winds continue to complicate the response. Authorities have warned that the fire may remain active for several days as crews focus on preventing further damage to populated areas and surrounding forests.
