Vozinha Seeks Sporting Opportunity After Historic World Cup Rise

Fame arrived suddenly, but football remains the priority.

Miami | July 2026

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has confirmed that he wants to continue playing for at least one or two more seasons after becoming one of the most admired figures of the 2026 World Cup.

The 40-year-old, currently a free agent after leaving Portuguese club Chaves, said he hopes to join a team that values his contribution as a goalkeeper rather than treating him primarily as a marketing figure.

His performances against Spain, Uruguay and Argentina transformed him into an international sensation and generated speculation about a possible move to Inter Miami. Vozinha, however, insists that his next decision must be based on sporting opportunity, respect and the chance to remain competitive.

After waiting decades to appear at a World Cup, the Cape Verdean veteran is not ready to leave the game. His sudden fame may open doors, but he wants his final chapter to be decided by what he can still accomplish on the field.
