A closing 67 carried the Spaniard into elite company.

Quim Vidal produced the best DP World Tour result of his career by sharing fourth place at the Nexo Championship in Scotland. The 26-year-old Spaniard completed the tournament with an excellent five-under-par 67, finishing at six under alongside Sweden’s Marcus Kinhult and Japan’s Keita Nakajima. Vidal’s final round elevated him ten positions and earned him a place immediately behind the three leading players. His four-round total of 282 included cards of 71, 71, 73 and 67.

The result was particularly impressive because Trump International Golf Links presented demanding conditions throughout the week. Strong coastal winds, thick rough and strategically positioned bunkers forced players to control trajectory and accept that conservative decisions could be more valuable than aggressive shots. Vidal remained within reach of the leaders through the opening two rounds before a third-round 73 appeared to weaken his challenge. His response on Sunday demonstrated both technical adaptability and the composure required to recover on a difficult links course.

Scott Jamieson won the tournament at 11 under after closing with his own 67, ending an almost 14-year wait for another DP World Tour title. The Scottish player finished two strokes ahead of England’s Matthew Jordan, while Andy Sullivan secured third place at seven under. Overnight leader Shaun Norris lost momentum after receiving a two-stroke penalty for improving the conditions affecting his stance and eventually shared seventh. Vidal avoided the surrounding final-round drama and quietly constructed one of the strongest cards of the day.

The Barcelona-born golfer earned promotion to the DP World Tour after an outstanding 2025 season on the HotelPlanner Tour. He claimed his first title at the Delhi Challenge and recorded five top-ten finishes on his way to securing playing rights at the higher level. His first full campaign has included missed cuts and difficult adjustments, making the performance in Scotland an important indication that his game can compete against established European Tour winners. The fourth-place finish also provides valuable ranking points and greater security for the remainder of the season.

Vidal’s progress has been built around consistency rather than exceptional distance from the tee. Links golf rewarded his controlled ball striking, course management and ability to manufacture shots in changing wind conditions. His final 67 confirms that he can move aggressively through a leaderboard when opportunities appear. The next challenge will be converting this breakthrough into regular top-ten finishes and, eventually, a first DP World Tour victory.
