Michael La Sasso will enter the final round of the LIV Golf Indianapolis Championship with a one-stroke lead after producing another composed performance at The Club at Chatham Hills. The 22-year-old American followed his exceptional second-round 60 with a four-under-par 66, reaching 13 under for the tournament. It is the first time he has held a professional 54-hole lead. A victory would make him the youngest individual tournament winner in LIV Golf history.

La Sasso turned professional before the beginning of the season after winning the 2025 NCAA Division I individual championship while representing the University of Mississippi. His transition into LIV Golf has involved competing across ten countries and five continents, but Indianapolis has provided his first sustained opportunity to challenge for a professional title. Before this week, he had never finished a LIV Golf round higher than 11th on the daily leaderboard. Three disciplined rounds have now placed him ahead of several major champions and experienced international winners.

The final pairing will create a striking generational contrast. La Sasso will play alongside 53-year-old Richard Bland, LIV Golf’s oldest active player, and Englishman Laurie Canter. Bland recovered from an opening double bogey to record a five-under 65, while Canter added a 68 to his opening-round 62. Both players are tied with Cameron Smith and Thomas Detry at 12 under, leaving four challengers only one stroke behind the leader.

Sergio García, Josele Ballester, Bubba Watson and Younghan Song remain within two shots at 11 under. Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau are part of a larger group at 10 under, three strokes behind La Sasso. Rahm has already secured his third consecutive LIV Golf Individual Championship, while DeChambeau is attempting to protect second place in the season standings. With 15 golfers separated by only three strokes, the final round is likely to reward aggressive play and produce rapid changes across the leaderboard.

The team competition is equally close. Defending champion Legion XIII leads at 34 under, only one stroke ahead of La Sasso’s HyFlyers GC, which is seeking its first team victory. Ripper GC stands three shots behind the leaders, while regular-season champion 4Aces GC remains within four. Because every player’s score counts toward the team total, a single difficult hole could alter both championships.

La Sasso now faces the most demanding test of his young career: converting opportunity into victory while surrounded by players with decades of experience. His position represents a breakthrough, but the compressed leaderboard leaves no room for caution. Indianapolis will determine whether his remarkable week becomes an encouraging performance or the beginning of a significant new career.
