Leysin, May 2026. Tadej Pogačar won the Tour de Romandie with the authority of a rider already operating in July mode. The Slovenian did not merely defend the lead; he imposed a rhythm that turned the Swiss race into a demonstration of control, timing and competitive intimidation.
His victory confirmed what the mountain stages had already suggested: Pogačar is not using the spring as rehearsal, but as occupation. After attacking with precision, absorbing pressure and collecting stage wins, the UAE Team Emirates leader converted Romandie into another sign that his season is moving from dominance to inevitability.
The result also matters because Romandie is not an empty trophy.
