A demanding climb reshapes both the race and team strategy.
Belleville-en-Beaujolais, France | August 2026
Spanish cyclist Paula Blasi experienced a difficult day at the Tour de France Femmes after losing valuable time during one of the race’s most demanding mountain stages. The challenging route, featuring multiple classified climbs and relentless attacks among the overall contenders, significantly altered the general classification while forcing several teams to adjust their tactical approach.
Blasi was unable to remain with the leading group during the decisive ascents and eventually ceded time to the principal contenders for the yellow jersey. As the stage unfolded, her responsibilities shifted toward supporting her UAE Team teammate Elisa Longo Borghini, placing collective strategy above individual ambitions in her debut appearance at the Tour.
The stage was won by Dutch rider Demi Vollering following an aggressive finale that also reinforced Marlen Reusser’s overall lead. The mountainous terrain created substantial gaps among the race favorites, confirming that the battle for the general classification has entered a decisive phase as the competition approaches its most demanding stages.

Despite the setback, Blasi continues to be regarded as one of Spain’s brightest emerging talents in professional cycling. Her performances earlier in the race demonstrated both versatility and determination, while her willingness to work in support of her team reflects the tactical discipline required at the highest level of international competition.
With several stages still remaining, Blasi will have additional opportunities to contribute to her team’s objectives while continuing to gain valuable experience in one of cycling’s most prestigious events. As the Tour enters its final stretch, endurance, teamwork and strategic execution are expected to determine the ultimate outcome of the race.
