The Spanish team combines podium ambitions, stage-winning options and sprinting strength for the season’s final Grand Tour.
MADRID, SPAIN | 18 AUGUST 2026
Enric Mas will lead Movistar Team at the 81st Vuelta a España, scheduled from 22 August to 13 September. The race will begin with an individual time trial through the streets of Monaco before continuing across France, Andorra and Spain. Mas enters the competition as the team’s principal contender for the general classification.
The 31-year-old has reached the Vuelta podium four times, finishing second in 2018, 2021 and 2022 and third in 2024. He arrives after competing in the Clásica de San Sebastián and the Vuelta a Burgos, where he continued rebuilding his form following a difficult start to the season. His experience makes him Movistar’s central reference in an especially demanding route.
Cian Uijtdebroeks will return to competition after illness forced him to abandon the Tour de France, while Iván Romeo will make his Vuelta debut after finishing on the podium at the Tour de Pologne. Pablo Castrillo and Raúl García Pierna will provide aggressive options for breakaways and stage victories. Jorge Arcas, Carlos Canal and Venezuelan sprinter Orluis Aular complete the eight-rider lineup.
Aular will target the mass finishes, while Romeo is expected to pursue opportunities in the time trials and selected stages. Castrillo brings proven winning experience after claiming two Vuelta stages in 2024, and Arcas adds tactical knowledge to the group. Movistar’s diversified selection reflects an ambition extending beyond Mas’s general-classification campaign, with several riders capable of influencing the race across different terrains.
