Artificial intelligence (AI), advanced robotics, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) are not only optimizing industrial processes but also reshaping society through a more human-centric and sustainable approach. However, this transformation goes beyond adopting new technologies; it requires a framework that ensures social well-being, security, and global certainty.
Purpose-Driven Technology: Humanism in the Age of AI and Robotics
Industry 5.0 represents a shift towards collaborative systems where robots work alongside humans, optimizing not only productivity but also enhancing worker well-being. In this context, machines do not replace humans but complement their capabilities, allowing employees to focus on more creative and strategic tasks (Arntz & Eimler, 2022). New technologies should improve both operational efficiency and provide safer, more sustainable environments, adapting to human needs (Alves, Lima & Gaspar, 2023).
Proposals for Growth and Well-being
1. Universities and Education:
Universities must play a key role in the transition to Industry 5.0 by updating their academic programs to include not only advanced technical knowledge in AI and robotics but also a vision centered on human values. Additionally, education should focus on critical digital skills, enabling current and future workers to adapt to constant technological changes (Frontiers, 2022).
2. Companies and Social Responsibility:
Companies must embrace Industry 5.0 with a focus on social responsibility. Investment in AI and robotics must be paired with policies that ensure employee well-being, including mental health and ergonomic workspaces designed for human-robot collaboration (Gartner, 2023).
3. Governments and Public Policies:
Governments are responsible for creating regulatory environments that promote both technological innovation and social well-being. In the context of nearshoring and cybersecurity, it is critical to develop public policies that protect both businesses and citizens without compromising privacy or fundamental rights (Brookings, 2024; Geopolitics Journal, 2024).
Security and Certainty: The Pillars of Global Transformation
In a world where geopolitical tensions, drug trafficking, and cyber threats are increasingly prevalent, it is essential that Industry 5.0 is accompanied by a comprehensive focus on security. Human-robot collaboration should not only enhance productivity but also create safer and healthier work environments, which will be key to ensuring balanced global development (Brookings, 2024; MDPI, 2024).
Final Reflection
The convergence of technology and humanism is the key to a safer and more sustainable future. While Industry 5.0 offers enormous growth potential through AI, robotics, and other technologies, its success will depend on how governments, businesses, and universities collaborate to ensure that this revolution benefits society as a whole. The vision of the United Nations’ Agenda 2045 will only be achievable if we remain focused on creating a world where human well-being and technological innovation go hand in hand.
