How to Activate “Bluey Mode” on WhatsApp in Four Steps

The colorful customization is not an official WhatsApp feature, but users can recreate the animated series’ visual style through the application’s appearance settings.

MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA.— WhatsApp users can create a “Bluey Mode” by manually changing their chat backgrounds and message-bubble colors. The option does not install an official Bluey theme or modify the platform’s internal functions. Instead, it combines existing personalization tools with images inspired by the popular Australian animated series.

First, download a suitable Bluey image from a reliable source and save it to the phone’s photo gallery. Next, open WhatsApp, enter Settings, select Appearance and choose Default Chat Style followed by Background. Select the saved image, adjust its position and brightness, and confirm the change.

For the third step, return to Default Chat Style, open the Chat Bubble menu and select a blue tone matching the program’s visual identity. The fourth step is to personalize a dedicated Bluey group with a themed profile image, description and background. Users with access to Meta AI can also ask questions about the characters, episodes, family themes or upcoming film.

The Bluey feature film is scheduled to reach cinemas on August 6, 2027, through BBC Studios, Walt Disney Studios and Ludo Studio. Series creator Joe Brumm will write and direct the computer-animated production. Until the Heeler family reaches the big screen, fans can transform their everyday conversations into a small digital extension of Bluey’s playful world.
