Her strongest message reaches beyond the runway.
NHA TRANG, VIETNAM
Adriana Rivas is drawing growing attention at Miss World 2026 as El Salvador seeks a historic result in one of the world’s most visible international pageants. The 23-year-old representative has earned positive reactions for her confidence, stage presence and performance during the competition’s preliminary activities in Vietnam. Her appearance at the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVI: The Green World became one of the most discussed moments of her participation. However, no final placement or official qualification for the decisive rounds has yet been announced.
Rivas appeared on the runway in a light-blue dress featuring transparent details, presenting an image that combined elegance with a noticeably assured performance. Supporters have highlighted the physical preparation, composure and communication skills she has demonstrated since arriving in the host country. She has also participated in the Top Model fast-track activities, an important component of the competition that can strengthen a contestant’s visibility before the final. Her progress has consequently generated optimism among Salvadoran pageant followers, although the field remains highly competitive and preliminary praise does not guarantee advancement.
The Salvadoran contestant brings an academic and social profile that extends beyond conventional beauty-pageant expectations. Rivas studied general sciences with a concentration in biology and has made mental-health advocacy the central purpose of her national platform. Her initiative, Mente en Voz Alta, promotes emotional well-being, suicide prevention and more open conversations about psychological vulnerability among young people. Rivas has publicly discussed her own experience with bipolar disorder, using the phrase “being vulnerable is brave” to challenge the stigma surrounding mental-health conditions. Before traveling to Vietnam, she took the project to schools and communities across El Salvador’s 14 departments.
That advocacy could become especially relevant in Miss World, where the Beauty With a Purpose program remains one of the organization’s defining elements. Rivas must still navigate interviews, multimedia engagement, public voting and other evaluations before the competition determines its leading contestants. The final is scheduled to take place in Nha Trang, where Thailand’s Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri is expected to crown her successor. For El Salvador, Rivas’s campaign already represents more than a search for international recognition. It offers the country a platform through which national identity, academic preparation and a difficult but necessary conversation about mental health can reach a global audience.
