Android’s new ability to detect fake voices during active calls marks an important step in the fight against AI-enabled fraud. As synthetic audio becomes more realistic, smartphones are beginning to evolve from simple communication devices into real-time security filters.
The feature responds to a growing threat: criminals using cloned voices to impersonate relatives, executives, bank representatives or public officials. These scams are especially dangerous because they exploit trust, urgency and emotional reaction. A familiar voice can bypass skepticism faster than a suspicious message or unknown link.
Real-time detection changes the balance.
