The Spanish rider enters the Netherlands round with a record that has no equivalent in motorcycle trial.

Toni Bou arrives at the penultimate round of the TrialGP season with his first mathematical opportunity to secure the 40th world championship of his career. The Repsol Honda HRC rider currently holds 39 crowns, consisting of 20 indoor X-Trial championships and 19 outdoor TrialGP titles.
The 39-year-old leads the outdoor standings with 360 points, 97 ahead of teammate Gabriel Marcelli. With 80 points available in Zelhem and one final round remaining in Spain, Bou must finish the weekend with an advantage greater than 80 points to become champion before the season finale.
His dominance has been absolute throughout the campaign. Bou has won all 18 scoring races contested so far, including the most recent round in Cahors, France. Beyond securing another championship, he is attempting to complete his first perfect outdoor season since 2019.
Bou captured his first indoor and outdoor world titles in 2007 and has won both championships every season since, an uninterrupted reign lasting two decades. His achievements already make him the most successful motorcycle trial rider in history, far ahead of previous champions such as Dougie Lampkin and Jordi Tarrés.
Securing the outdoor crown would give Bou 20 titles in each discipline and bring his combined total to 40, one more than his current age. The milestone has not yet been achieved, but the championship standings place him in a commanding position. Zelhem could therefore become the setting where sustained technical precision, physical endurance and competitive consistency produce one of motorsport’s most extraordinary records.
