Study with Amazon for Free: Bridging the Digital Divide through AI and Cloud Computing

An initiative that seeks to democratize access to skills in artificial intelligence and cloud technology.

Mexico City, October 2025.
Amazon has launched a new educational program offering free training in cloud computing and artificial intelligence, aiming to reduce the digital divide across Latin America. The initiative provides courses on AWS technologies, from foundational concepts to advanced machine learning, accessible to anyone with internet access and modest computing resources.

The program is designed for flexibility: users can progress at their own pace, guided by interactive modules, hands-on labs, and real-world projects. No prior technical background is required; the platform includes foundational courses in Python, data structures and cloud basics to prepare learners for more advanced topics.

One of the distinguishing features of this initiative is that it is fully gratis for participants, with Amazon subsidizing the infrastructure and certification costs. Learners who complete core tracks may become eligible for exam vouchers, enabling them to earn official AWS certifications without personal expenditure.

Amazon emphasizes inclusivity. To reach underserved communities, it partners with educational organizations and governments to provide support in connectivity, mentorship and study hubs in zones with limited internet access. This makes professional development feasible even in remote regions.

For learners, the benefits are dual: technical skill development and employability. In markets across Latin America, demand for cloud engineers, machine learning specialists and AI integrators is growing exponentially. By enabling local talent to access global opportunities, the program aims to shift economic paradigms, especially in areas historically disconnected from tech pipelines.

Still, challenges remain. Internet stability, language barriers and a lack of preparatory resources may hinder some students. Amazon plans to address these gaps by localizing teaching materials, offering peer support groups and deploying offline study modes where bandwidth is limited.

This initiative reflects a broader movement: moving from passive access to active participation in the digital economy. In doing so, Amazon redefines its role—not just as provider of infrastructure—but as an enabler of upward mobility through knowledge.
