Seven consecutive victories have revived her season.
Iași | July 2026
Paula Badosa secured her seventh consecutive victory after defeating Russia’s Alevtina Ibragimova 7–6, 1–6, 6–4 in a demanding match lasting almost three hours at the Iași Open in Romania.
The Spanish player recovered after losing the second set and falling behind in the decisive round. Three consecutive service breaks allowed her to complete the comeback and advance to the quarterfinals.
Badosa’s winning run began with her title in Bastad, her first trophy in two years. Her latest results have lifted her close to the world’s top 100, strengthening her chances of entering the US Open main draw without playing the qualifying tournament.
She will next face Hungary’s Panna Udvardy as she continues a race that involves more than rankings. After months marked by injuries and uncertainty, Badosa is rebuilding confidence one victory at a time.
