The Pretty Little Liars actor says two masked men threatened to kill him over a watch.
West Hollywood, United States
Actor Keegan Allen, best known for playing Toby Cavanaugh in Pretty Little Liars, was robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint in West Hollywood after two masked men approached him near a business on Santa Monica Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. to a robbery report in the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. Allen told authorities that two men dressed in black confronted him while he was near his vehicle.
One of the suspects allegedly pointed a silver handgun at him, while the other displayed a knife. The pair demanded his watch and a bracelet, and one of them struck Allen in the face with the firearm before both men fled in an unidentified vehicle.
Emergency personnel treated the actor at the scene for an injury to his forehead. Allen later said he had suffered a concussion and shared images showing blood on his face shortly after the attack.
He also posted surveillance footage that appeared to capture the robbery and described the episode in stark terms, saying the attackers had threatened to kill him for his watch. His comment, “my life for a watch,” quickly became the most striking phrase associated with the incident.
The robbery has drawn attention not only because of Allen’s celebrity status but because it fits into a broader pattern in which luxury watches can become highly visible targets. High-end timepieces are portable, globally recognizable and can retain substantial resale value, making them particularly attractive in street robberies.
Authorities have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remains open. Detectives are reviewing available surveillance footage and other evidence in an effort to identify the suspects.
Allen’s case also illustrates how quickly a routine stop can turn into a violent encounter. The stolen item may be financially valuable, but the real cost of the incident lies in the physical injury, psychological shock and the possibility that lethal force could have been used over an object.
For Allen, the attack reduced the logic of luxury ownership to its most disturbing extreme: a watch can measure time, but in a few seconds it can also become the reason someone believes a life is worth threatening.
