Neorama connects Spain’s young performers with audiences, institutions and the professional music industry.
GRANADA, SPAIN
Granada is hosting the inaugural Neorama Festival, a national initiative created to showcase emerging musicians from across Spain. Running from 3 to 5 September, the event brings together 500 young participants, including 325 performers, for 40 concerts in some of the city’s most recognizable cultural and historic spaces.
Organized by the Confederation of Musical Youth Societies of Spain to mark its 75th anniversary, Neorama is conceived as an itinerant festival that will move to a different Spanish city each year. Its purpose extends beyond public performances by helping young musicians make the difficult transition from artistic training to sustainable professional careers.
The program crosses conventional genre boundaries, combining flamenco, classical and symphonic music with jazz, folk, indie, rock, punk, electronic music and contemporary urban styles. Eleven selected projects represent regions ranging from Galicia and the Balearic Islands to Ceuta and Melilla. Participating acts include Musikene Big Band, Julia Cry, Liceu BLAM Collective, Mühlfeld Ensemble, Blung, Naked Eva and Pitxorines.
Concerts are being staged at venues including the Generalife Theatre, Manuel de Falla Auditorium, Carmen de los Mártires, Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation and Plaza de los Aljibes. The opening performance combines the JM World Orchestra and Granada Opera Chorus with Manuel de Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain, linking emerging talent to the city’s musical heritage.
Neorama also offers workshops and discussions on entrepreneurship, equality, accessibility, artificial intelligence and artists’ employment rights. Its closing SuperArte performance will unite young orchestral musicians with artists with disabilities, reflecting the organizers’ commitment to inclusion. By combining artistic diversity, professional networking and public access, the festival seeks to build a national platform capable of carrying young musicians from rehearsal rooms into lasting careers.
