Craftsmanship turned the ceremony into a couture statement.
BAGHERIA, Italy | June 2026
Dua Lipa has released the first official photographs from her wedding celebrations with actor Callum Turner, revealing a custom Chanel Haute Couture gown created for the main ceremony in Sicily. The British singer shared images taken by photographer David Sims after three days of events in Italy, following the couple’s earlier civil marriage in London. The photographs placed the dress at the center of the celebration, highlighting its sculptural silhouette, handmade embroidery and dramatic feathered train.
The principal ceremony took place on Saturday, June 6, with Lipa wearing a halter-neck gown featuring a low back and an extended train designed to create the impression of feathers in motion. The dress was embroidered by hand with approximately 480,000 beads and crystals by Atelier Montex. Its surface combined transparency, texture and controlled volume, creating a look that remained closely fitted through the body before expanding into the train.
The gown also incorporated trompe-l’oeil jewelry effects produced through 1,155 hours of embroidery by Lesage. Around 25,000 feathers were applied by the specialist house Lemarié across a train measuring approximately two meters. These details turned the piece into a demonstration of the métiers d’art tradition associated with Chanel, where multiple workshops contribute different techniques to a single couture design.
The dress was created at Chanel’s historic workshops at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. It was the first Haute Couture wedding gown signed by Matthieu Blazy for a friend of the French fashion house. The design therefore carried significance beyond celebrity fashion because it marked an early bridal statement within Blazy’s creative leadership.
Lipa completed the ceremony look with a feathered headpiece and a six-meter tulle veil. The veil was embroidered by hand with beads, feathers and individually cut organza applications, extending the same visual language established by the gown. Custom white satin shoes were produced by Massaro, while Turner wore a made-to-measure Louis Vuitton suit.
The Sicilian celebration unfolded across several events, each accompanied by a different fashion choice. For the welcome dinner, Lipa wore a white leather halter dress by Bottega Veneta with an open back, the house’s recognizable intrecciato weaving and a feathered skirt. She paired it with matching accessories and Bulgari jewelry.
At the Sunday brunch, the singer selected a transparent floral-lace dress by Chloé and carried a swan-shaped handbag from the same fashion house. The sequence of looks transformed the wedding weekend into a carefully constructed fashion narrative. Each outfit carried a distinct identity while remaining connected through a predominantly white palette.
Before traveling to Sicily, the couple had legally married on May 31 at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London. For that ceremony, Lipa chose a Schiaparelli Haute Couture ensemble designed by Daniel Roseberry. The look featured an ivory blazer with gold buttons, an asymmetric skirt and a sculpted corset inspired by Bianca Jagger’s celebrated bridal tailoring.
White gloves, Christian Louboutin shoes and a Bulgari Serpenti necklace completed the civil-wedding appearance. The London ceremony emphasized structured tailoring and urban elegance, contrasting with the romantic scale of the later celebration in Sicily. Together, the two events presented different interpretations of contemporary bridal style.
The Italian festivities were held at Villa Valguarnera, an eighteenth-century residence in Bagheria near Palermo that is sometimes described as a smaller Sicilian counterpart to Versailles. The setting provided the celebration with architectural scale while preserving the privacy required for a high-profile guest list. Elton John reportedly performed “Your Song” during the event, which also included fireworks and a menu created by Michelin-starred chef Tony Lo Coco.
The dinner emphasized local cuisine rather than treating Sicily merely as a visual backdrop. Guests were served regional dishes including anelletti alla Norma, panelle and crocché, followed by cassata and cannoli. The menu linked the international celebrity gathering to the culinary traditions of the island.
Reports also indicated that the couple reserved an entire hotel for guests, reinforcing the scale and exclusivity of the weekend. Among those attending were Donatella Versace, Joe Alwyn, Olivia Dean, Charli xcx, Mark Ronson, Grace Gummer and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker. Their presence reflected the couple’s connections across music, cinema and fashion.
Yet the official images avoided presenting the event primarily as a celebrity gathering. Instead, the visual narrative concentrated on the craftsmanship of the clothing, the architecture of the venue and the intimacy of the ceremony. The wedding was presented less as a public spectacle and more as a carefully composed editorial story.
The Chanel gown ultimately became the defining symbol of the celebration because of the amount of labor hidden inside its surface. Hundreds of thousands of beads, thousands of feathers and more than a thousand embroidery hours produced a garment designed for only a few hours of use. That imbalance is central to haute couture, where value lies not in efficiency but in precision, originality and the preservation of specialized knowledge.
Lipa’s wedding wardrobe also demonstrated how modern celebrity ceremonies function as carefully structured visual narratives. Each event had its own designer, silhouette and symbolic role, from Schiaparelli tailoring in London to Bottega Veneta leather, Chloé lace and Chanel couture in Sicily. At its center stood the Chanel gown, combining bridal tradition with the labor and theatricality of twenty-first-century couture.
