Anthropic Challenges SpaceX for the Year’s Largest Market Debut

Prediction markets are pricing ambition long before public investors see the accounts.

Anthropic could surpass SpaceX as the company completing the largest initial public offering of 2026, according to wagers placed on prediction platform Polymarket. Traders assigned the artificial intelligence developer approximately a 58 percent chance of claiming the distinction, compared with 44 percent for SpaceX. The market had attracted about $5.6 million in total bets.

The comparison follows SpaceX’s record-breaking June listing, which valued Elon Musk’s aerospace company at approximately $1.7 trillion and generated roughly $85.7 billion after the full offering process. SpaceX initially dominated expectations surrounding the year’s largest debut. Attention shifted after reports suggested Anthropic could seek a valuation approaching $2 trillion and raise as much as $100 billion.

Anthropic, developer of the Claude artificial intelligence models, is reportedly considering an October offering. The company has not publicly confirmed final pricing, the number of shares to be sold or a definitive listing date. Until formal documents establish those terms, the proposed valuation and fundraising total remain targets discussed by investors and unidentified sources rather than completed financial facts.

Reports that Anthropic sees more than $30 trillion in potential revenue require careful interpretation. The figure refers to an estimated total addressable market across industries that could adopt artificial intelligence, not to income Anthropic expects to generate directly. SpaceX reportedly presented a comparable market-opportunity estimate of $28.5 trillion before its listing.

Polymarket prices also reflect the beliefs and incentives of participating traders, not an audited valuation or independent probability model. The quoted percentages can fluctuate rapidly, and apparent probabilities may temporarily exceed 100 percent because of pricing spreads, liquidity conditions or differences in contract execution. They reveal market sentiment rather than guarantee an outcome.

A public offering would expose Anthropic’s revenue growth, operating expenses, computing costs, customer concentration and dependence on strategic partners to considerably greater scrutiny. The company’s final value will depend not only on enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, but on whether investors believe its expanding sales can eventually justify its capital requirements.

Anthropic may yet eclipse SpaceX, but the present contest is between a completed listing and a reported aspiration. The decisive evidence will appear in regulatory filings, offering terms and sustained public-market demand.
