London recording sessions suggest new music, but nothing is confirmed.
LONDON
British singer Adele is once again at the center of music industry speculation following reports of recording sessions in London and a private performance that was reportedly planned and later canceled. The developments suggest that the Grammy-winning artist may be preparing her fifth studio album for 2027, although neither Adele nor her representatives have formally announced a new record.
According to British newspaper The Sun, the singer recently worked on new material at Church Studios in Crouch End, north London. Sources cited by the publication claim that Adele spent approximately two weeks writing and recording songs while maintaining a low public profile.
The location has particular significance in her career. Church Studios is associated with producer Paul Epworth, a longtime collaborator who worked with Adele on the Academy Award-winning James Bond theme Skyfall. The singer also recorded material for her 2015 album 25 at the facility.
Earlier reports published by The Mirror in June had already suggested that Adele was returning to the studio. The latest accounts have revived expectations that the sessions could lead to her first full-length release since November 2021.
Another reported development involves London’s Roundhouse venue in Camden. According to The Sun, Adele had provisionally arranged a private performance to introduce new songs and obtain feedback before their release.
The event was subsequently canceled, and no replacement date has been announced. Neither the proposed performance nor its cancellation has been independently confirmed through an official statement from the singer.
Speculation also surrounds the potential album title. Adele’s previous studio records—19, 21, 25 and 30—were named after ages associated with important periods in her life.
Because the singer turned 38 in May 2026, some reports have suggested that her next project might be titled 38. That remains an unverified possibility rather than an announced title.
The renewed attention contrasts with Adele’s public comments in 2024, when she expressed a desire to take an extended break from music after completing her concert commitments.
Following performances in Munich and the conclusion of her Las Vegas residency, she stepped away from regular live appearances. At the time, she indicated that she had no immediate plans to produce another album and wanted to pursue other creative interests.
A potential return would therefore represent a change in direction, although private recording activity does not necessarily establish that a commercial release is imminent.
For the music industry, Adele remains an artist whose relatively infrequent releases generate substantial international attention. Her previous albums achieved major commercial success, supported by distinctive vocal performances and deeply personal songwriting.
The latest reports demonstrate how quickly expectations can develop around an artist who has deliberately maintained distance from the spotlight.
For now, the evidence points to reported creative activity rather than a confirmed release campaign. No official album title, track listing, single or launch date has been announced.
Whether the London sessions become a new record in 2027 remains uncertain. What is already clear is that even the possibility of Adele’s return continues to command considerable attention.
