Glory in New York carries a record financial reward.
New York | July 2026
Spain’s players could receive approximately €755,000 gross each if they defeat Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday, July 19. The amount was established through an agreement between the national team captains and the Royal Spanish Football Federation regarding the distribution of FIFA’s prize money.
FIFA will award $50 million, around €44 million, to the 2026 world champion. Under the agreement, the 26 players would divide 45% of that total, representing nearly €20 million for the squad, while the remaining funds would stay with the federation.
The announced payment is a gross figure, meaning the final amount received by each player would be lower after taxes. Individual obligations could vary depending on the footballer’s country or region of residence, as well as the fiscal treatment applied to income earned during the tournament in the United States.
Spain would also receive a significant financial reward if it finishes second. FIFA has reserved $33 million for the runner-up, with the squad expected to share 40% of that amount under the same agreement.
The final against Argentina gives Spain the opportunity to win its second men’s World Cup title, 16 years after its triumph in South Africa. Victory would bring both a historic second star and the largest individual bonus ever agreed for the Spanish national team.
