Jordan Pickford Pleads Guilty After Dangerous Lamborghini Incident

A traffic violation puts England’s goalkeeper under legal scrutiny.

Knutsford, England

England and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has pleaded guilty to careless driving after an April incident in Cheshire in which his Lamborghini Urus nearly caused a collision involving two other vehicles. Court documents state that the 32 year old ignored a give way marking at a junction in Knutsford, forcing other drivers to brake sharply to avoid a crash. A Cheshire Police officer witnessed the maneuver and began pursuing Pickford after the vehicle accelerated away. The case has now moved from a roadside incident into a formal legal process.

According to the police account, Pickford continued along Toft Road while the officer activated emergency lights and a siren. The officer reported driving at around 50 miles per hour while attempting to catch the Lamborghini on a stretch where the speed limit was 30 miles per hour. Pickford eventually pulled over after apparently noticing the police vehicle behind him. His conduct led to a prosecution for driving without due care or attention.

Pickford entered his guilty plea in writing under the Single Justice Procedure but requested a court hearing so he could present mitigating circumstances before sentencing. The case has been adjourned to Chester Magistrates’ Court, where he is due to appear on December 7. Possible consequences may include penalty points on his driving licence or a temporary driving ban, depending on the court’s final decision. No sentence has yet been imposed.

The incident draws additional attention because of Pickford’s profile in English football. He has accumulated more than 300 appearances for Everton and over 90 caps for England, representing the national team at multiple World Cups and European Championships. His sporting status does not alter the legal process, but it ensures that what would otherwise be a routine traffic prosecution receives significantly greater public scrutiny. The next stage will focus on mitigation and the sanction the court considers proportionate to the admitted offence.
