In 2026, that logic has become more visible because the new regulatory cycle has made every kilometre more valuable, even when it is framed as content rather than competition. The sport is selling proximity while protecting information.
The distinction matters because a filming day is not the same as a full shakedown or an official test. A shakedown offers teams broader running, while filming days are capped and designed around promotional use rather than open performance evaluation. Even so, teams continue to use these sessions to validate systems, gather first impressions, and shape the visual narrative around a new car before the next competitive phase begins. What appears to be access for fans is often also a shield for engineers.
