DeFi platforms use automated software programs called smart contracts to recreate financial services such as lending, borrowing, and trading without relying on traditional banks. These systems operate entirely on blockchain networks, allowing users to interact directly with digital protocols rather than centralized institutions.

However, the rapid expansion of this ecosystem has also introduced new risks. Cyberattacks on exchanges, theft of digital assets, and fraudulent investment schemes have become recurring issues within the industry. For that reason, cybersecurity specialists emphasize the importance of strong digital security practices, including private key protection, multi factor authentication, and careful verification of investment platforms.

For individuals entering the cryptocurrency market, experts often recommend starting with a solid understanding of the technology and the risks involved. Diversification, patience, and long term thinking are frequently presented as safer strategies than speculative trading driven by sudden price movements.
