The world’s largest stadiums are becoming technology laboratories.
Barcelona, August 2026
Google, Amazon and Microsoft are expanding their presence across global sport through partnerships that combine sponsorship, cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence and access to enormous audiences. The movement reaches from FC Barcelona and McLaren Racing to the Bundesliga, Premier League, LaLiga and NFL. These companies are generally not purchasing teams or leagues outright. Instead, they are embedding their products inside the systems that shape performance, broadcasting, management and the fan experience.
Google’s latest agreement with FC Barcelona makes Gemini the club’s official consumer AI partner and Pixel its official mobile phone partner. The collaboration covers the men’s and women’s first teams and is expected to produce personalized content, tactical explanations and interactive experiences for supporters. Pixel devices will also be used to create exclusive material offering closer access to players and daily club life. For Barcelona, the alliance strengthens a sponsorship portfolio increasingly built around digital engagement rather than conventional advertising.

The strategy resembles Google’s long-running relationship with McLaren Racing, which began in 2022 and has since expanded. Android devices, Chrome, Pixel and Google Cloud technologies have supported communication, video analysis, data visualization and operational efficiency at the circuit. Gemini has also acquired a more prominent role in the partnership as generative AI becomes central to Google’s commercial identity. Formula One offers an ideal showcase because every fraction of a second can transform a technical tool into a visible competitive advantage.
Amazon Web Services has followed a different route through its collaboration with the German Football League. Since 2020, AWS technology has powered Bundesliga Match Facts, converting live match data into statistics such as goal probability and tactical insights for broadcasters and viewers. The partnership was later expanded, making AWS the league’s official generative AI provider. Amazon consequently gains something more valuable than logo exposure: a global demonstration of how its cloud systems can process complex information in real time.
Microsoft has built an equally extensive sports network through partnerships with LaLiga, the Premier League and the NFL. Azure, Power BI, Microsoft 365, Copilot and AI services are being integrated into digital platforms, match analysis, organizational operations and sideline decision-making. Its five-year agreement with the Premier League aims to personalize content for an international fan base estimated at 1.8 billion people. In the NFL, Microsoft technology supports coaches, players, scouts and administrative personnel across both competitive and business operations.

These agreements reveal why sport has become strategically important to Big Tech. Clubs and leagues provide loyal global communities, continuous data and emotionally powerful environments in which new technologies can be normalized. The central contest is no longer simply for advertising space, but for control of the infrastructure through which audiences watch, understand and experience competition. As artificial intelligence enters the stadium, the companies powering the spectacle may become almost as influential as those playing it.
