The technology entrepreneur predicts that artificial intelligence and humanoid robots will eventually deliver healthcare worldwide, although neither system currently functions as a clinically validated medical provider.
AUSTIN, TEXAS.— Elon Musk has proposed combining Tesla’s Optimus robot with xAI’s Grok artificial intelligence system to provide healthcare for people around the world. “Someday, Optimus + Grok will provide incredible medical care to everyone on Earth,” the Tesla chief executive wrote on X. He offered no implementation timetable, clinical evidence or regulatory pathway supporting the prediction.

Grok could theoretically analyze symptoms, laboratory reports and medical literature, while Optimus could perform physical tasks or assist patients inside their homes. Musk has previously predicted that artificial intelligence will eventually outperform doctors and that humanoid robots could become superior surgeons. These claims remain projections rather than demonstrated medical capabilities.
Optimus stands approximately 1.73 meters tall and weighs about 57 kilograms. Tesla has presented the humanoid machine handling objects, carrying packages, serving drinks and completing basic household activities, while suggesting future applications such as medication reminders and personal assistance. Musk has estimated that mass-produced versions could eventually cost between $20,000 and $30,000.

Turning that platform into a healthcare provider would require extensive clinical testing, regulatory authorization, reliable physical precision and clear accountability when errors occur. AI systems can support medical professionals, but they may also produce inaccurate recommendations and cannot currently replace human judgment in complex clinical situations. The future of medicine may include intelligent machines, but technological ambition becomes healthcare only after it survives the disciplines of evidence, safety and responsibility.
