Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman has spoken publicly for the first time about welcoming her third child, describing the experience as a period of joy, gratitude and renewed appreciation for her family. At 45, the actress is embracing another chapter of motherhood with her partner, French music producer Tanguy Destable, while maintaining a largely private family life in Paris.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar published on October 26, Portman reflected on the arrival of her youngest child and how caring for a newborn has changed the way she sees her two older children.

The actress shares son Aleph and daughter Amalia with her former husband, French choreographer Benjamin Millepied. She explained that welcoming another baby has reminded her how quickly children develop their own personalities, interests and ways of understanding the world.

Portman confirmed her pregnancy in April, describing the opportunity to expand her family as a privilege. She also acknowledged that becoming pregnant again at this stage of her life carried particular emotional significance.

Reports indicate that the baby was born in Paris in late August. However, Portman has not publicly disclosed the child’s name, sex or exact birth date, preserving a degree of privacy around the family’s newest member.

Her relationship with Destable, a musician and DJ professionally known as Tepr, became public in 2025. The couple have generally avoided discussing their relationship extensively, despite increasing attention following the pregnancy announcement.

Portman has also described experiencing motherhood differently as she has grown older. Greater self-knowledge, she suggested, has helped her make more deliberate decisions about the people, relationships and experiences that matter most to her.

Living in Paris has provided another important change. The actress has spoken about the relative privacy she experiences in France compared with the intense public attention she encountered during earlier pregnancies in Los Angeles and New York.

Although photographers have occasionally documented the couple together, Portman continues to limit what she shares about her children’s everyday lives.

Her latest reflections follow major changes in her personal life. Portman and Millepied separated in 2023, and their divorce was finalized in 2024 after more than a decade of marriage.

The actress has continued balancing family responsibilities with an established international film career, including her work as a producer and her involvement in projects beyond acting.

In the Harper’s Bazaar interview, Portman also discussed how her priorities have evolved. Rather than emphasizing professional achievements or public expectations, she described kindness, affection and shared laughter as increasingly central to her understanding of a fulfilling life.

Her comments reveal a personal perspective without suggesting that the experience of motherhood is identical for every woman.

For Portman, welcoming a third child has become an occasion to reconsider time, family relationships and the rapid changes that accompany raising children.

The new arrival represents a private milestone in a highly public career, one that the actress has chosen to discuss through reflection rather than extensive disclosure.
